Ange Postecoglou told he could achieve top six finish with Nottingham Forest if can fix one key issue

Ange Postecoglou has been backed to achieve a top six finish in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest this season, if he can fix one key issue.

Nottingham Forest surprised the footballing world in the early hours of the morning by announcing that Nuno Espirito Santo had been fired.

Despite turning them around from a team fighting against relegation to one that qualified for European football, Nuno was relieved of his duties as manager.

Off-the-field issues proved to be Nuno’s downfall, and now Postecoglou will have the opportunity to move Nottingham Forest forward.

Robert Earnshaw believes Ange Postecoglou learned a lesson in the Europa League final

Postecoglou’s coaching style often leads to entertaining, albeit somewhat frantic, football, which caused him problems throughout his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Postecoglou tactfully changed things during the Europa League final and defeated Manchester United, and Robert Earnshaw told Sky Sports News that it might help him at Nottingham Forest.

"I feel like it's a good fit and I think he's got a really good squad" 👀

“I don’t want to see him change too much, because I want him to be authentic and be himself. So, I want the attacking football.

“I just think maybe you look at the final against Manchester United, he did tweak a few things, he did change what his approach was in order to win the game. That tells me that he is looking at it.

“And sometimes managers, after being sacked, go away and have a few months break, they look at what they’ve done and think, ‘this is what I need to get better at, this is what I need to tweak.’

“He’s going to come in fresh, a very good squad, really good players, and I think it’s set up for him, even the players at Nottingham Forest. I think they’re actually set up for his style of football.”

Earnshaw backed Nottingham Forest to finish sixth in the Premier League this season after the managerial change, and the lessons Postecoglou learned at Tottenham might be crucial in making that happen.

Evangelos Marinakis wants a more attack-minded approach for Nottingham Forest

Even though Postecoglou will need to learn and adapt to make Nottingham Forest tougher to break down than Tottenham were, Evangelos Marinakis won’t want too many alterations in his style.

Postecoglou is expected to bring a different style of play to the club, which is more in line with the attacking football Marinakis wants to see from Nottingham Forest.

The Nottingham Forest owner wants his team to be more expansive, which is why Postecoglou was the immediate top target.

Whether he makes too many changes to his style will remain to be seen, but there’s no doubt that the City Ground is going to see a lot of goals this season.
