Ruben Amorim told tried-and-tested Man Utd star must be ‘sitting there thinking’ about one thing involving two players

Ruben Amorim has one experienced first-team Red Devils player who could steal the limelight if the Manchester United manager rolls the dice with him in the short term.

That is according to Ben Foster, who has now broken down the dynamic involving three Manchester United first-team players at Old Trafford amid the current season.

United are ninth in the Premier League table and the Red Devils have lost once, picked up one win and secured a draw in their opening three league matches.

Ruben Amorim saw the Red Devils bounce back ahead of the September break after United’s 3-2 Premier League win over Burnley at Old Trafford in August.

The 40-year-old United manager had come under early scrutiny ahead of the Burnley match after Grimsby Town knocked United out of the Carabao Cup.

Ben Foster reacts to Man Utd signing Senne Lammens amid the situation around Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana

Andre Onana is all but set to leave Old Trafford and is expected to sign for Turkish side Trabzonspor after Manchester United landed Senne Lammens on deadline day.

The 29-year-old Cameroon international had lost his place as United No 1 and Ruben Amorim has preferred Altay Bayindir ahead of the soon-to-be Trabzonspor player.

Andre Onana was at fault for a mistake in United’s defeat to Grimsby Town and Altay Bayindir has also continued his error-prone and erratic form this season.

Ben Foster has now admitted that Senne Lammens already faces immediate pressure to step up at United after his arrival at Old Trafford earlier this month.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he told the ‘Ben Foster AKA The Cycling GK’ podcast: “They’ve got a kid [Lammens] now from the Belgian league, never played for the Belgium first team.

“They’re expecting this guy to be able to adapt not only to the Premier League but to Manchester United as well. You’re asking for an absolute miracle for this to work.

“It reeks of sticking a band-aid on it really because Bayindir isn’t the answer. This kid, and I call him that at 23 because he is a kid in goalkeeper terms, really. It’s asking an awful lot.”

Ben Foster feels that Tom Heaton has one thing on his mind amid the predicament around Senne Lammens and Altay Bayindir at Man Utd

Senne Lammens became a United player after the Red Devils agreed to pay £18.1m and add-ons to Royal Antwerp to bring the Belgian shot-stopper to Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old former Royal Antwerp star is expected to challenge for the No 1 spot, with Altay Bayindir to play second fiddle and Tom Heaton to be the third choice.

Foster believes that Tom Heaton must be “thinking” that he could find himself playing more minutes under Ruben Amorim with the opportunity at hand.

“Tom Heaton will be sitting there thinking, ‘I’ve got half a chance here for that reliability and stability,’” he continued.

“We’re not writing Lammens off yet, on the face of it, the risk of it that’s involved, asking for this kid to come in and hit the ground running, you’re asking for a miracle.”

Red Devils veteran Heaton, who returned to Old Trafford in 2021 after his contract with Aston Villa expired, inked a new deal with United in the summer.
