Josh Allen praises ‘unbelievable’ Patriots QB Drake Maye

Josh Allen and Drake Maye have only played each other twice in the latter’s young NFL career. But the Buffalo Bills quarterback has quickly formed a friendship with Maye.

Appearing on the “Like a Farmer” podcast, Allen opened up about how he’s formed a “good relationship” with the New England Patriots quarterback and offered high praise for the 22-year-old.

“Got to spend some time with him this offseason. He’s an unbelievable guy. He’s still in the kid tier for me,” Allen said. He’s younger than I am. He’s an unbelievable kid, a bright kid. He can spin the heck out of the ball. He moves well."

Allen continued: “And he seems like, again, the only thing that I ever tell anybody is like when they ask me like, ‘What’s your No. 1?’ It’s like just be yourself, right? Be authentic, know who you are, don’t try to be somebody that you’re not. And he seems like a kid that is only him.”

This isn’t the first time Allen has heaped praise on Maye. In June, the 2024 NFL MVP called the 23-year-old one his favorite young quarterbacks. In 2024, Allen said he believes Maye will be a good quarterback for a long time.

Maye, who was drafted third overall by New England in 2024, was often compared to Allen by scouts because of their similar style of play.

Allen saw Maye twice in the 2024 season. Buffalo split the season series with New England, falling to the Patriots in Week 17.

The two quarterback’s will have to wait a little while longer to see each other this season. The Bills host the Patriots on Oct. 5 in their first meeting of 2025.
