Manchester City forward Jeremy Doku has shared his delight at bagging a double for Belgium in his former stomping ground at Anderlecht.

The winger bagged two goals and an assist in the game in a dominant 63-minute display to help his country progress towards World Cup qualification next year.
He’s now on five goals and 12 assists in 35 games for Belgium since making his debut in 2020 and, crucially, off the mark this season having gone three Premier League games without a goal or an assist for Manchester City at the start of this season.
The display was doubly important for the 23-year-old as it was in front of his old crowd at Anderlecht, a club where he came through the youth ranks and made 37 appearances in total in the first team, scoring six and assisting seven before joining Stade Rennais in 2020.
The Manchester City man was delighted at that but urged his Belgium teammates to remain humble and focus on qualification.
“It’s very special for me to score here in Anderlecht, very symbolic. Coming back here after five years and scoring two goals is wonderful for me and my family,” he said.
“We were in the game from the start. They defended well in the first twenty minutes. We had a few chances then, but we couldn’t capitalize. Kevin’s beautiful goal set us free. He was back in action today, and that’s good for us. After that, things went more smoothly.
“The matches against North Macedonia and Wales will be very important now. We have to stay humble. We’ve picked up six points now, but we know that October will be decisive for qualification.”
