“The biggest loser”–Journalist believes international break may not have been kind to Arsenal man

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard is the biggest loser in the Belgian national side after this international break, after seeing others move ahead of him in Rudi Garcia’s plans.

That’s according to Frank Raes, [via Voetbal Primeur](https://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuws/1690679/grootste-verliezer-van-twee-voorbije-matchen-is-misschien-wel-trossard.html), who believes that the Arsenal man has been supplanted over the course of the last two games.

Trossard was expected to leave Arsenal this summer after their big summer of spending and reinforcing their forward options but instead signed a new deal at the Emirates to extend his relationship with the Gunners.

That came as something of a surprise as he is likely to play a reduced role under Mikel Arteta this season behind the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Eberechi Eze.

Competition for places at Arsenal is fierce and it’s a similar situation in the Belgian national team squad, where there is the likes of Jérémy Doku and Malick Fofana pushing to take Trossard’s place.

He’s never really shone for the Red Devils, with ten goals and five assists to his name in 46 games to date, and Raes believes the Arsenal forward may end up being the biggest loser from this international break as well.

“The biggest loser of the past two matches may well be Trossard,” he said in Gazet Van Antwerpen.

He’s also on the bench at Arsenal. The national team and Trossard haven’t been a successful combination yet. He’s stuck around a bit, just like Openda.”

“Doku listened well and shook off Guardiola’s armour. He’s someone who tries again after a failed dribble. That’s mentally strong of him. Doku always emanates a huge threat. Fofana has that too. The opponents are frightened by those two.”
