Best Business of 2025: Crystal Palace working on new deal for key man after exit links [view]

Crystal Palace are working on a new deal to tie down Oliver Glasner, according to Football Insider, and it could be the best bit of business they do in 2025.

It was a summer transfer window of plenty of speculation for the Eagles, with a large portion of that being centred around potential outgoings. Eberechi Eze headed through the exit door, joining London rivals Arsenal, while Marc Guehi was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool. GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the two clubs had agreed a fee, but the move fell apart on deadline day.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park, Glasner has done a sensational job with Palace, securing two trophies and European football. Keeping hold of him will be crucial, but alongside Eze and Guehi, he was also linked with a potential departure in the summer.

Crystal Palace Working on Oliver Glasner Contract

According to a report from Football Insider, Crystal Palace are doing everything they can to try and convince Glasner to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park. Glasner threatened to walk away from his position if they sold Guehi to Liverpool when the window was open, and it's even been suggested that he's been disappointed with the lack of ambition in the transfer market.

Manchester United are believed to be eyeing Glasner, casting further doubt over his future. Losing Guehi would have been a disaster and tieing him down to a new deal would be a huge statement from the club, but extending Glasner's stay would be the best bit of business Palace do in 2025.

The Austrian manager has delivered two trophies to the Eagles supporters during his short tenure, and he's now set to take them on a European journey after they qualified last season. Players will come and go at a club like Palace, but keeping hold of Glasner and having some continuity will be imperative if they want to ensure they stay heading in the right direction.

It's currently unclear whether Glasner would be keen on putting pen to paper, and the arguably disappointing transfer window might not have done much in terms of trying to convince him, but the Eagles should be doing everything in their power to get him to sign a new contract.
