Big blow for Man City as their 'fantastic' player suffers injury ahead of Man United clash -…

Manchester City will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Manchester United for multiple reasons after the international break draws to a close.

Firstly, Pep Guardiola’s men have lost two out of their first three Premier League games and for a club of the Sky Blues’ stature, they cannot afford to keep dropping important points.

Secondly, City can be considered the favourites as the contest will be played at the Etihad Stadium.

Thirdly, as much as Ruben Amorim respects Pep Guardiola, he is yet to suffer a defeat against his City side since managing United — a record the hosts would be keen to put an end to.

However, ahead of the much-awaited clash, Rayan Cherki has suffered a thigh injury that could sideline him for two months.

Omar Marmoush suffers injury ahead of Man City vs Man United clash

However, Manchester City fans may not have been too worried as in Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, Omar Marmoush, Savinho and Oscar Bobb, they still have plenty of attacking options.

Marmoush suggested he is better than Mohamed Salah, which illustrates that his confidence is sky high at the moment.

However, ahead of Manchester City’s showdown with Manchester United, Marmoush suffered an ill-timed knee injury as Egypt faced Burkina Faso — as per journalist Ismael Mahmoud.

Marmoush, who Ian Wright called “fantastic” took a heavy first touch and was subsequently fouled as he winced in pain for a while before being substituted 10 mins into proceedings.

Latest update on Omar Marmoush’s injury

If the former Eintracht Frankfurt forward is ruled out for the fixture, Jeremy Doku seems likely to take his place.

Doku starred against Kazakhstan as he scored a brilliant brace and after being benched in two successive games, the Belgian seems like a no-brainer for Guardiola to potentially replace the Egyptian.

Ismael Mahmoud reported that it is believed Marmoush’s injury is not believed to be serious ahead of Manchester City’s much-awaited affair against Manchester United.

However, one way in which the Manchester City boss could surprise Ruben Amorim is by picking Bobb to take Marmoush’s place, if the latter is unable to face Manchester United. The Norwegian has largely played on the right flank for City.

However, Bobb has shone when played as a left-winger against the likes of Nottingham Forest in City’s 2-0 win in the 2023/2024 season and when he scored his famous goal against Newcastle in the same campaign.

With Savinho returning to training, if he is deemed ready to start, the Brazilian could start on the right-wing and Bobb could play on the opposite flank.
