Watch: Man United's Onana drops another clanger ahead of switch to Trabzonspor

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana made another error as his Cameroon side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Cape Verde in a 2026 World Cup qualification fixture on Tuesday.

Dailon Livramento scored the only goal of the contest in the 54th minute, and it will go down as another poor piece of goalkeeping from Onana, who failed to confront the number nine before dropping to the ground too early.

The Cape Verde attacker was allowed to break into the Cameroonian penalty box before firing past Onana, who ended up sitting down towards the post, and he has previously been guilty of that during his time at Man United.

Onana did manage to keep a clean sheet in Cameroon's 3-0 win over Eswatini on September 4, but it has been a poor start to the campaign for the 29-year-old, who is close to leaving Man United.

Indeed, it is understood that Trabzonspor have come to an agreement with Man United over a loan deal for the goalkeeper, who has also accepted to make the switch to the Turkish outfit.

Onana is set to leave Man United for Trabzonspor

Onana is expected to head to Turkey on Thursday, with his involvement for Cameroon during this international break now over, and the move should be secured before the Turkish transfer deadline on Friday.

Trabzonspor will not allegedly have the chance to turn the deal into a permanent one next summer, although they could negotiate a fee with Man United in 2026 if the ex-Inter Milan stopper impresses at the club.

Onana is expected to earn more money at Trabzonspor due to the signing-on fee that he will receive, in addition to the flat 20% tax rate for the Super Lig, while he will also pick up bonuses at the Turkish club.

The Cameroonian made the move to Man United from Inter Milan in 2023, and he has represented the Red Devils on 102 occasions in all competitions, keeping only 24 clean sheets and conceding 150 times.

Onana started the season as back-up to Altay Bayindir in the Premier League, while Man United secured the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day.

The goalkeeper has only played once this season, featuring between the sticks against Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup, but he was at fault for both of the League Two side's goals during the second-round clash, and he then kept out just one of the home team's 12 penalties during a marathon shootout.

All being well, Onana will make his debut for Trabzonspor in this weekend's blockbuster clash with Fenerbahce.
