“I love you”–Former Manchester United star issues Bruno Fernandes tribute despite controversial summer exit

While Argentine sensation Alejandro Garnacho might have finally found his way out of Old Trafford in the recently concluded summer transfer window, he hasn’t forgotten a few things that impacted him at Manchester United.

The Atletico Madrid academy graduate moved to Chelsea in a high-profile Premier League move, but this swimmer hasn’t forgotten how Bruno Fernandes had a massive impact on his career during his time at Carrington.

After what was a frustrating saga to follow, Garnacho finally completed a move to West London last summer which made United’s books £40m richer.

And he took to Instagram to post a message to Bruno Fernandes, with the Portuguese midfielder celebrating his birthday. Garnacho wrote a heartfelt message to his former skipper, writing, “Thanks for everything you did for me; I love you.”

Garnacho was one of five players sold at M16

The 21-year-old was one of the five players that Ruben Amorim ended up showing the doors in the recently concluded summer window. He, alongside Antony, Sancho, Malacia and Rashford, was shipped away from the proceedings at M16.

Brazilian wide forward Antony joined Real Betis, while Sancho secured a loan transfer to Aston Villa. But while all this was going on, Garnacho was quite clear about what he wanted. He always wanted to move to Chelsea from day one, and he did end up getting his wish.

Many would suggest how his departure was a bit disrespectful, but his tribute to Bruno Fernandes shows the respect that the pair shared.

The captain’s weight on Fernandes’ shoulders

Fernandes, who turned thirty-one (31), is still quite an important part of the proceedings at Old Trafford. But there have been growing concerns that this could be his last season at United, with the Saudi Pro League ready to make him their marquee arrival.

And moreover, the fact that the Premier League heavyweights went on to spend over £200m on buying a set of forwards in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko means the role you’d expect from Fernandes’ role is changing. Suddenly he finds himself playing deeper in midfield in the 3-4-2-1 setup. This ends up taking him away from his preferred #10 role.

But we will have to see how his future fares at United. Hopefully his exit is nothing like how Garnacho decided it was best for him to leave the club.
