Restricted free agent Josh Giddey has signed a 4-year, $100 million deal to stay with the Chicago Bulls, as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. This contract makes Giddey the 21st-highest paid point guard in the league, per Spotrac.
Giddey had the best season of his career last year with the Bulls, scoring 14.6 points per game and averaging career-highs in rebounds (8.1), assists (7.2), steals (1.2), and 3-point percentage (37.8), per Basketball Reference.
Giddey was involved in a one-for-one trade with Alex Caruso last June, a move that drew heavy criticism to Bulls management at the time. However, considering Giddey’s new deal, Bulls general manager Marc Eversley seems satisfied with the decision to trade Caruso’s elite defensive skills for a strong playmaker in Giddey.

This trade seems to have worked out well for both sides, as Caruso’s talents are perfectly suited for a team that’s just one piece away, while Giddey can serve as a key impact player on offense and a foundational piece. For the Thunder, it concluded with an NBA title in June, with Caruso averaging 14.4 points and 2.4 steals in their seven-game finals series against the Pacers.
With the Bulls entering a clear rebuild after trading away Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Lonzo Ball last season, keeping a young player like Giddey to handle the playmaking duties for 2024 first-round pick Matas Buzelis and the 2025 first-round pick Noa Essengue should help set the team on the right path.
