Everton's Jordan Pickford rated by the National media as England beat Serbia

Jordan Pickford will now return to Everton with his international break complete following England’s emphatic 5-0 victory against Serbia.

David Moyes will be thrilled to see another of his international players return to Finch Farm unscathed.

Vitaliy Mykolenko is Everton’s only injury concern following the first international break of the 2025/26 campaign.

In England’s game at the weekend, Pickford did not have much to do against Andorra, as he secured yet another clean sheet.

Everton are back in action at the weekend against Aston Villa, but their goalkeeper will return to Finch Farm in good shape after a straightforward international break.

Following the game in Belgrade, the national media shared their thoughts on Pickford’s display in the hostile Rajko Mitic Stadium.

Everton rejected interest in Pickford this summer, with the likes of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce both showing an interest in the 31-year-old.

Pickford has remained a constant for the Three Lions throughout the World Cup Qualifiers, and he picked up two further clean sheets over the last four days.

Writing for The Mirror, John Cross rated Pickford a solid 7/10, saying: ‘Another comfortable night. England have yet to concede in this qualifying campaign.’

‘Another quiet evening for the Everton keeper, minus one small mishap on the ball that almost resulted in a chance for Serbia. Still yet to concede under Tuchel,’ said Metro.

The Express were impressed with Pickford’s footwork on a quiet night for the keeper, they said:

‘Impressed more with his feet than he did his hands, but that was only because Jordan Pickford barely had a save to make. He’ll be No.1 when England travel to North America next summer and rightly so. One of the most underrated England players of his generation.’

Carlo Ancelotti told Pickford to play with more instinct during their time together on Merseyside.

The 31-year-old is now set for fresh Everton contract talks having nailed down his spot as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Everton legend Duncan Ferguson has hailed Pickford as a ‘big game player’ in the past, but Tuesday night was not one of them.

The 31-year-old had to deal with a deafening crowd in Belgrade, but the home nation offered very little threat on the pitch.

Having played a huge role in keeping Everton afloat over recent years, The Friedkin Group view Pickford as key to their European target.

He continues to represent Everton and England at an extremely high level, but he will know more difficult games will be ahead following a straightforward night in Belgrade.
