“This Year’s Davante Adams”: NFL Analyst Fuels Explosive Rumor of Tyreek Hill Chiefs Reunion

On September 9, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio ignited speculation over a possible Tyreek Hill trade by drawing a direct comparison to Davante Adams’ 2024 mid-season saga. Florio said the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers are two franchises worth watching as the Nov. 5 trade deadline approaches.

> “_Tyreek Hill is on track to be this year’s Davante Adams, with a trade before the deadline seeming inevitable. For now, we’re watching two teams: the Chiefs and the Steelers.”_

The post was made after the Miami Dolphins’ 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. During the game, Miami’s explosive offense produced just 211 total yards and 133 passing yards. They turned the ball over three times and did not score until the fourth quarter.

Tyreek Hill finished with four receptions for 40 yards and zero touchdowns, something he wasn’t really happy about. He voiced his frustration postgame.

> “_This was a big kick in the balls for us.”_

Off-field scrutiny is also mounting. The September 8 TMZ report alleges domestic [violence against ex-wife Keeta Vaccaro](https://gridironheroics.com/twisted-my-intimate-parts-spat-on-me-tyreek-hills-ex-wife-keeta-vaccaro-details-disturbing-abuse-allegations-against-dolphins-wr/), and Hill’s past social media hints about “opening the door” to playing elsewhere have fueled doubts about his long-term future in Miami. He carries a $51.9M cap hit for 2025 with $36M due next season.

The Dolphins are not required to trade their star receiver. However, if playoff hopes fade for the second straight year, Florio’s prediction of a Hill reunion with the Chiefs or a move to the Steelers gains traction.

Last year October, the Las Vegas Raiders traded WR Davante Adams to the New York Jets. This offer was made for a conditional 2025 third-round pick that could escalate to a second-rounder if he met performance thresholds (All-Pro honors, AFC Championship appearance), per ESPN. The deal was a last-ditch attempt by the Jets to salvage their season and reunited Adams with their QB Aaron Rodgers, his former teammate in Green Bay.

However, after the season, the Jets released Adams in March 2025 when no trade partner emerged for the remainder of his contract. Weeks later, he signed a two-year, $46M deal with the Los Angeles Rams. If Florio’s prediction is correct, something of this sort will be seen happening with Tyreek Hill.
