Five star England maintain unbeaten record in World Cup qualifiers

· 9 September 2025, 21:52

**England put in a quality performance in Belgrade tonight as Thomas Tuchel's side made it five wins from five games in the World Cup Qualifiers.**

Not only have England managed a 100% record, they've done so without conceding a single goal along the way.

They've not been great to watch of late, but that's an impressive record.

Although, to be fair, it was a vastly improved performance tonight as the increased level of competition seemed to bring around a much better all-round game from the Three Lions.

Elliot Anderson was relatively quiet for England against Serbia

Newcastle's England trio will return to Tyneside fully fit and raring to go

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newcastle United's Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon started the game, but only Livramento finished the full match, with Anthony Gordon having been withdrawn at 69 minutes.

There were five different goal scorers in England's 5-0 win, but none of our lads were able to directly contribute; however, it was an Anthony Gordon shot that was parried out by the keeper, which led to Ezri Konsa knocking home to make it 3-0, adding to Harry Kane's opener and Noni Madueke's follow-up.

Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford from the penalty spot rounded off the evening as Serbia played the final 20 minutes with ten men after Nikola Milenkovic picked up the softest red card you're likely to see.

Yoane Wissa scored again for DR Congo tonight

---------------------------------------------

The positive for Newcastle is that Tino Livramento came away unscathed, as did Anthony Gordon, although he still has to sit out the next two games through suspension. Dan Burn didn't get on the field tonight, so he will also return to Tyneside fully fit.

Elsewhere, Yoane Wissa scored for DR Congo as they were beaten 3-2 by Senegal, adding to the goal he scored at the weekend in their 4-1 win over South Sudan.

There have been reports that Wissa limped off the pitch when he was replaced at 74 minutes, but there has been no confirmation on any injury as yet. Fingers crossed he's fit to make his Newcastle debut on Saturday.
