Commanders' Jayden Daniels projected for another primetime fireworks show

Jayden Daniels made light work of the New York Giants despite not being at his best. The Washington Commanders quarterback will need more when he takes center stage at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers.

And one NFL analyst believes that fans tuning in will be treated to an offensive showcase of epic proportions.

Daniels will be looking to make another lasting contribution with the national spotlight glaring. The No. 2 pick in 2024 shone on primetime throughout Washington's memorable run to the NFC Championship game as a rookie. Such a short turnaround so early into the campaign isn't ideal, but if anyone is capable of coping with the pressure, it's the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels tipped to put on a primetime show in Week 2

It's a clash between two legitimate playoff hopefuls on Thursday Night Football. It's also a battle between Daniels and Jordan Love, two of the league's brightest young signal-callers. Ryan Heckman from NFL Spin Zone made a bold prediction for the contest, which centered on the gunslinging quarterbacks combining for 700 total yards with the entire league watching on.

"This is under the lights. It's on a shorter week. Defenses don't get the extra days' rest. And, it's a game between two NFC contenders that boast a pair of top young quarterbacks in the conference. For what it's worth, Love only threw for 188 yards against Detroit. Jayden Daniels, meanwhile, went for 301 total yards against New York. Together, they're going to combine for over 200 more than what they amassed in Week 1."

The Commanders and Packers both turned in outstanding defensive performances in Week 1. That's what makes this a bold prediction. On any normal day, Daniels and Love reaching this number doesn't seem so far-fetched.

It's still early in the season. The Commanders are still working out kinks in their execution. Washington's penalties need to be cleaned up. And getting wide receiver Terry McLaurin more involved would be beneficial, even though he missed all of the summer's preparations during his long contract standoff with the franchise.

The result was more important than the performance in Week 1. But make no mistake, the Commanders need both if they want to stand any chance of topping the red-hot Packers, who instantly entered the Super Bowl picture when they traded for All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons.

Another enthralling evening awaits. Whether the Commanders can achieve a win is debatable, but they'll always have a chance with Daniels leading the charge.

Always.
