Arsenal planning to offload two stars in January

Arsenal return to action on Saturday when they host Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners will face a Forest side managed by former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou, who was appointed as the club’s new head coach on Tuesday following the sacking of Nuno Esperito Santo.

Mikel Arteta’s side had won their first two matches of the new Premier League season, but a narrow 1-0 defeat against reigning champions Liverpool last time out put an end to their strong start.

The Gunners will hope to return to winning ways against Forest, but the visitors will be buoyed by the appointment of their new head coach when they visit The Emirates.

Away from the action, it appears that Arsenal are set to offload two of their attacking stars when the transfer window reopens in January.

According to Football Insider, the north London side will attempt to sell both Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard in the new year.

Forward Jesus, 28, hasn’t featured for the Gunners since January after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, and the report claims that the club could be willing to allow the Brazilian to leave in January.

The ex-Manchester City striker will likely find himself behind both Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres when he returns to full fitness, and his time at The Emirates could therefore come to an end in the coming months.

Trossard, meanwhile, featured more times than any other outfield player in Arteta’s squad last season, but has only made one substitute appearance so far this term.

The Belgium international’s versatility has benefitted Arsenal over the past couple of seasons, with the 30-year-old able to operate in a number of positions including as a left winger or as an attacking midfielder.

It is claimed that the Belgian could be allowed to leave Arsenal when the transfer window reopens, with his playing time likely to be limited this season.
