‘Something you dream of’ – Madueke delighted with first England goal

Noni Madueke says scoring his first England goal felt like a dream come true.

The Arsenal winger scored the Three Lions’ second of the game as they thrashed Serbia 5-0, bursting through on goal before dinking the ball over goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

“I’m delighted for the team performance and the win,” Madueke told ITV Sport.

“I think it was a really, really top performance today.

“It was a great flick from Morgan (Rogers) and as soon as it broke for me I had one thought in my head, which was just to go as fast as I could and compose for myself for the finish so yeah, I’m really happy.

“It’s a great feeling, of course. Something you work for and you dream of when you’re younger and for it to come to fruition today is a great feeling.”

England made it five wins from five in their World Cup qualifying campaign with their victory in Serbia.

Harry Kane opened the scoring with a header from Declan Rice’s corner before Madueke doubled the lead.

There were also first England goals for Ezri Konsa and Marc Guehi, with Marcus Rashford adding a late fifth from the penalty spot.
