Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford kept a clean sheet for England on Tuesday, as they crushed Serbia 5-0.

Pickford matched Gordon Banks’ record for consecutive clean sheets with his seventh, and the goalkeeper can surpass the England legend against Latvia next month.

The 31-year-old faced calls over his position in goal following the appointment of Thomas Tuchel, but the German has continued to play the former Sunderland man.

Pickford is set for a new contract at Everton, with the Toffees set to enjoy their number one for several more years to come.

Jack Grealish was snubbed for the England squad, but the winger can expect to join his club teammate at the World Cup next summer if his current form continues.

Jordan Pickford untested against Serbia

Pickford had already gone over 540 minutes without conceding for England before Tuesday’s match, and that time has now surpassed 10 hours.

Nor did the goalkeeper come close to conceding, either, with the challenge of Serbia ultimately amounting to a metaphorical stroll in the park for England.

Pickford was not required to make even one save, with the home side failing to direct any of their three shots on target.

Accurate long passes 2/12

Recoveries 7

The 31-year-old left a little to be desired with his passing, however, completing just 65% of his total passes, and only 17% of his long passes.

But Pickford will be happy with his clean sheet regardless, having marked his 78th senior cap in the best way.

National media praise agree on Jordan Pickford performance

It is hard to quantify a performance such as Pickford’s against Serbia. The goalkeeper was not called into saving action even once, but did keep a clean sheet.

Sky Sports chose to give the goalkeeper a 7/10, calling him a “bystander” on the night.

The Mirror agreed with the analysis, also rating Pickford 7/10 on what they described as “another comfortable night” for the England number one.

The Daily Express were more complimentary in their description of the 31-year-old, calling him “one of the most underrated England players of his generation.”

Despite the high praise, Pickford was rated as a 6 out of 10 for his performance.
