Leeds United boss Daniel Farke made some pretty big decisions in this summer. The Whites saw some drastic changes to their squad over the summer window.
10 new faces arrived, which meant some players needed to make way. Farke made it clear about who was in his plans before the training camp in Germany. Some big decisions were made, including bringing back Jack Harrison into the first team fold. Patrick Bamford was told to find a new club, and both sides came to an agreement to mutually terminate his contract.

Mateo Joseph’s situation this summer was complicated. He wanted more playing time and asked for a transfer, the forward also failed to show up for pre-season. So Farke considered him out of the plans for this season, and Leeds found a loan deal to Mallorca for him.
Joseph is still a promising talents, and is one of the biggest success stories from Victor Orta’s youth recruitment policy. The 21-year old says he owes a lot to the former Leeds executive, and added that Orta’s prediction about him came to pass:
“Everything they told me when they came to see me has come to pass. They’re two great people; they had a lot of trust in me, and I’m so grateful for that and I wish them the best,” Joseph said about Orta.
Forward says critics were ‘harsh’ on his time at Elland Road
In the same interview with Diario de Mallorca, the Leeds loanee said people were too harsh about his time at Elland Road. Just last season he managed six goal contributions in limited starts, and could have gotten more if he had playing time. This is what he had to say about his critics:
“They’re different situations because of the 71 games I played for Leeds, I came off [the bench] in the last five minutes of 40 of them,”
“In the end, people see the 71-game figure, but I’m sure I might have started fourteen or thirteen, and six goals is a good number.
“The national team has shown what I’m capable of; at Leeds, when I’ve played and had the confidence, it’s shown what I’m capable of, and I’m eager to prove it here. And to be at my best.”
