The New York Knicks are trying to figure out which NBA player gets their last roster spot, and they have a few prospects.
They have reportedly been looking at several players, including Ben Simmons.
In fact, some reports have said they offered Simmons a veteran’s minimum deal.
But according to Ian Begley, that isn’t the case.
“Knicks have had dialogue with free agent Ben Simmons over the course of the offseason and certainly have had interest in him, but club has never made a formal offer to Simmons, per league sources. Landry Shamet, Malcolm Brogdon among those on NYK radar for its lone roster spot,” Begley posted on X.

Simmons has been a hot topic throughout the league for the last few weeks.
He’s now a free agent with a bunch of major question marks about his future.
Several teams have apparently thought about signing him, but no one has moved forward with a deal.
The Knicks have indeed contemplated Simmons, but Begley says they haven’t done more than that.
Their view of Simmons hasn’t evolved more than just interest.
The Knicks might be out of the picture, which limits Simmons’ choices.
There have been rumors of him retiring from the NBA, either for a foreign market or to step away from professional sports for good.
The Knicks are looking at other players like Landry Shamet and Malcolm Brogdon, so even if they don’t develop more interest in Simmons, they have a few options.
But training camp and Opening Night are getting closer, so they need to make a choice soon.
