KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An integral part of the Chiefs’ dynasty is returning to Kansas City as the Drum Honoree for Sunday’s home-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Chiefs announced Tuesday that former Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu will be back at Arrowhead Stadium to perform the pregame ritual for the Week 2 Super Bowl rematch against the Eagles.
It’ll be the first home Chiefs game since Mathieu announced his retirement from the NFL. Mathieu announced his retirement in July after three seasons in New Orleans to close his career.

Over his 12-year career, which began as a third-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2013, Mathieu was a three-time All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s All-2010s team.
Over his 12 seasons, Mathieu spent five years with the Cardinals, a year with the Houston Texans, the aforementioned three seasons with the Chiefs, and a concluding three seasons with his hometown New Orleans Saints.
