Eagles DT Jalen Carter fined by NFL for spitting incident, remains eligible to play against Chiefs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Philadelphia Eagles standout defensive tackle Jalen Carter will be suited up on Sunday for a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL announced Tuesday that Carter has been fined $57,222 for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott prior to the first play of Week 1’s season-opening game.

Carter was suspended without pay for one game for the unsportsmanlike conduct, the league announced. However, because Carter’s spitting incident happened before he participated in any plays, the NFL is considering his one-game suspension to be served in Week 1.

Carter will forfeit his Week 1 game check as well. The NFL’s statement said the NFL Players’ Association informed the league that Carter will not appeal the discipline, leaving him eligible to participate in the Week 2 game between the Eagles and Chiefs.
