Report: Packers sign WR Christian Watson to 1-year extension

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - According to ESPN, the Green Bay Packers and wide receiver Christian Watson have come to an agreement on a one-year contract extension for the 2026 season.

Even in the midst of rehab for his torn ACL, the Packers are rewarding WR Christian Watson with a one-year, $13.25 million contract extension, per his agent Adisa Bakari. Watson’s four-year rookie contract was set to expire at the end of the 2025 season, allowing Watson to enter free agency. Instead, the new deal means he will likely remain in Green Bay for at least one more season.

Watson is currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after tearing his ACL in 2024’s Week 18 matchup against the Bears. He finished the 2024 season with 29 catches for 620 yards, averaging 21.4 yards per catch.

Watson joins Zach Tom as members of the Packers 2022 draft class to earn contract extensions after the right tackle agreed to a four-year, $88 million deal in July. Other members of the class like starters WR Romeo Doubs, OT Rasheed Walker, and OG Sean Rhyan have not been extended and could all potentially enter free agency after the 2025 season.
