The 49ers waived kicker Jake Moody following a disappointing Week 1 performance - and they didn't wait long to replace him.

Moody, who the 49ers used a third-round pick to select in the 2023 NFL Draft, went just 1-of-3 on field goal attempts in his team's matchup against the Seahawks.

And while San Francisco managed to pull off a close 17-13 win, they cut Moody on Tuesday after two-plus seasons of kicking struggles.

The former University of Michigan star - including last Sunday's game - has a field goal percentage of just 74.2 percent in the NFL.

Just hours after Moody was cut, the 49ers turned to veteran Eddy Pineiro, as they signed the 29-year-old according to multiple reports.

Pineiro spent the last three seasons with the Panthers, and made 22-of-26 field goal attempts last season.

However, he was released by Carolina after making 84.6 percent of his field goal attempts in 2024.

Pineiro first saw NFL action with the Bears in 2019 before playing five games with the Jets in 2021.

He actually owns the fourth-highest field goal percentage of all-time, with 88.095 percent.

49ers fans had been calling for Moody to be cut for some time, and former cornerback Richard Sherman joined that chorus after the kicker's latest tough outing.

'Jake Moody … just don't understand … kickers aren't hard to find and plenty of pretty good ones out there,' he wrote on X.

He also said on his eponymous podcast: 'This has to be it. I thought it during preseason. I thought it last year. I always think it because it's not acceptable for the position.'

Moody, 25, will now hope to land with another team.

The 49ers and Pineiro will take on the Saints this weekend.
