The New England Patriots won't have to wait long to see one of their ex-offensive linemen suit up against them.
The Miami Dolphins signed Cole Strange from the Cleveland Browns' practice squad Tuesday, per NFL Media's Tom Pelissero. Strange bounced around after he did not make New England's 53-man roster at the end of the preseason.
Strange became another image of Bill Belichick's several failed drafts in his final years with the Patriots. The 2022 draft turned out to be a total disaster with defensive back Marcus Jones as the only contributor remaining in Foxboro.
The Patriots drafted Strange in the first round out of Chattanooga. He never settled in at left guard and constantly battled injuries across his first three NFL seasons. Strange played in just 30 games in that span, though he did start every game as a rookie with the Patriots.
He failed to establish himself on an offensive line that progressively declined and forced the front office to add four new starters this season.
The Patriots and Dolphins square off in Week 2 in Miami for their first AFC East clash of the season Sunday afternoon. Both teams dropped their season openers as the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Patriots at Gillette Stadium while the Indianapolis Colts dismantled the Dolphins at Lucas Oil Stadium.
