Unai Emery confident Aston Villa will rebound after disappointing start

Villa have taken just one point from their opening three Premier League matches and the mood among supporters has hit arguably its lowest ebb since Emery first arrived at the club nearly three years ago.

But the boss has no doubts their fortunes will change, with all attention now on Saturday’s trip to Everton.

The international break has provided a period of reflection, with Emery eager to hit the ground running when those players who have been away return to Bodymoor Heath in the coming days.

Deadline day signings Harvey Elliott and Jaden Sancho are both pushing to feature in what will be Villa’s first-ever trip to the Toffees new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Emery said: “I am confident we are going to come back from this moment we are in now.

“Last year we started as well with some problems but we had six points from nine.

“Now we have only one point but we have only played three matches.”

After playing just three games in the opening month, Villa will now play seven in the space of just 22 days as they begin their Carabao Cup and Europa League campaigns.

Emery continued: “We have to be motivated and excited after this break, playing in the Premier League.

“Of course, we are going to start playing in the Carabao Cup and in the Europa League. We have a lot of challenges to face this year.”
