Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has a suspicion that one departing player may struggle to impress at his new club.
Ineos can be pleased with their transfer business this summer with £230m spent on five new signings.
Just as importantly, Ruben Amorim’s ‘bomb squad’ was cleared out, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Antony and Jadon Sancho all leaving the club over the window.
While Paul Scholes has backed Garnacho to impress at Chelsea, his view on Sancho’s move certainly wasn’t as positive.

Paul Scholes’ verdict on Jadon Sancho joining Aston Villa
On deadline day, Sancho agreed to join Aston Villa on a straight loan deal for the 2025/26 campaign.
United fans were happy to see Sancho leave, and it seems Scholes doesn’t have much hope of him turning things around at Villa Park.
Speaking on The Overlap, Scholes said: “Emery might be good for Sancho, but I think it is a weird signing. Talking about the size of pitches, Villa Park is massive.

“A lack of pace, lack of legs – it concerns you. He has ability, but what is his strength? Does he cut inside and smash it top corner? Can he beat a man? Does he link?
“He has the ability to pass someone, but they catch him.”
Jadon Sancho under huge pressure at Aston Villa
Sancho failed miserably at United and then Chelsea literally paid to keep him away from Stamford Bridge over the summer. He is in desperate need of some positive performances at Villa to turn his career around.
It can be argued that Sancho is United’s worst-ever signing, and he hasn’t made a great first impression at Villa Park either.
Sancho has already been warned by Gabby Agbonlahor that his attitude and work ethic will need to improve if he is going to succeed under Unai Emery.

Additionally, Villa fans thought Sancho looked miserable at his transfer unveiling on deadline day.
Having entered the final year of his United contract, it’s up to Sancho to turn things around.
