Guéhi sums up feeling of scoring his first England goal

Guéhi – who reached a quarter-of-a-century of senior international appearances in style in Belgrade – duly stretched his own record of recording the most England caps of any player whilst with Crystal Palace.

He also became just Palace’s third-ever professional goalscorer for England, after Peter Taylor against Wales in May 1976, and Ebere Eze against Latvia back in March.

Under Tuchel, the Three Lions comfortably lead UEFA’s Group K of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification – and could even secure their spot at the finals away to Latvia next month.

“It's always easy coming here,” Guéhi continued. “We’ve got such a good group of players, a good group of staff, all working towards one goal, so it’s really enjoyable, and always good to be here.

“I'd say we've already started \[to improve\], to be honest. It's been a lot of good camps. I think this performance, in particular, is the one that's the standout.

“But, yeah, we just hope that we can carry this on. It’s the standard, so hopefully we can carry this on.”
