Man United midfielder could now remain at club

Ruben Amorim will take his Manchester United side to face fierce rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils recorded their first win of the season against Burnley last time out, having picked up just a single point from their first two matches of the Premier League season.

United were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the second round stage following a penalty shootout defeat against League Two side Grimsby Town.

City have also struggled so far this season, losing their last two games in the league, which could make Sunday’s Manchester derby a thrilling encounter.

Now, it has emerged that one member of Amorim’s squad could stay put at Old Trafford despite being regularly linked with a move away.

As per CaughtOffside, midfielder Casemiro is now likely to stay at Manchester United after reestablishing himself as an important player under Amorim.

The Brazilian joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid back in 2022 and has since played 128 times for the club across all competitions.

Casemiro has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia over the past couple of years, with Pro League side Al Ittihad showing particular interest in the experienced player.

The Brazil international has been repurposed by Amorim, who has deployed him as a deep-lying playmaker, and it appears that his importance to United now means that he is likely to stay at the club.

Casemiro’s contract with the Red Devils is set to run until the end of the current campaign, and the report claims that the player himself is not pushing to leave the club as he is keen to continue playing regularly at the highest level ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

United are said to be unwilling to allow the midfielder to depart Old Trafford without first sourcing a suitable replacement.
