Manchester City player pictured on crutches – ‘Suspicion’ of serious injury setback

Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush picked up an injury in Egypt’s 2-0 World Cup qualifier win over Burkina Faso on Tuesday.

The forward had to be taken off the pitch early in the game and after the tie, the national team doctor, Dr. Mohamed Abu Al-Ela, confirmed a blow to his ligaments.

Reports from Egypt stated that the Manchester City player will undergo an X-ray once he returns to Cairo on Wednesday morning.

Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post a picture of the 26-year-old arriving at Cairo airport with crutches.

Another Egyptian outlet, Erem News, also took to X, to provide additional update on the player’s current situation.

They report the former Eintracht Frankfurt man suffered a serious blow, raising concerns for both the national team and Manchester City.

Erem News report that sources have informed them that Manchester City doctor has been in direct contact with Abu Al-Ela to enquire about Marmoush’s situation.

They add the Egypt doctor has informed his Manchester City counterpart that Marmoush will undergo a detailed scan on Wednesday ‘amid suspicion of cruciate ligament tear’.

At this moment in time, it looks like Pep Guardiola won’t be able to rely upon the Egyptian for the weekend derby clash against Manchester United.
