Andre Onana needs to complete a medical examination and paperwork before he joins Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor.
Andre Onana has been the subject of heavy criticism during his first two years at Manchester United.
The Cameroon international moved to Old Trafford in 2023, as David de Gea’s successor, but failed to dust himself off after a problematic campaign that saw him partly responsible for United crashing out of the Champions League before the knockout phase.
Onana continued to raise more questions than answers in his second season, which led to Ruben Amorim picking Altay Bayindir as his goalkeeper for the first three league matches of the season. He also missed the entirety of pre-season with a hamstring injury.
The signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp means that United have another goalkeeper. His arrival immediately puts Onana’s future in greater doubt.
Onana has made just one appearance this season, after starting in United’s defeat against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round.
In the past week, Onana has agreed to join Trabzonspor on loan, but the deal has yet to be finalised ahead of Turkey’s transfer deadline on Friday.

Andre Onana blocked from bringing goalkeeper coach to Trabzonspor
After representing Cameroon during the September international break, Onana is scheduled to fly to Turkey on Thursday to complete his loan move to Trabzonspor.

It is understood that Onana will fly to Trabzon from Paris on Thursday before undergoing a medical.
The 29-year-old will double his salary under the terms of the loan, and there is a possibility that he could make his Trabzonspor debut against Fenerbahce on Sunday.
According to the Daily Mail, Onana was hoping to travel with Cameroon goalkeeper coach Carlos Kameni to work with him at his new club.
However, that won’t be the case since he doesn’t have the necessary coaching licence, meaning that element of the deal is off.
The report adds that Onana will live with his brother Christian in Turkey, while renting out his house in Hale.
This will come as a blow for Onana because he clearly wanted to work with a goalkeeper coach he trusted while in Turkey.
Onana labelled as ‘scapegoat’
Onana was the subject of a debate on talkSPORT radio this week.
Respected journalist Darren Lewis argued that Onana has been a ‘scapegoat’ during his time at United, with former Premier League midfielder Darren Murphy stating he doesn’t think replacing the stopper will help United’s problems.
🤦♂️ "Onana's a little bit of a scapegoat!"
😬 "I'm not sure Andre Onana going is going to solve their problem!"

Amorim clearly has multiple issues to address, but he couldn’t ignore the elephant in the room, with Onana and Bayindir performing poorly this season.
