Why Ruben Amorim’s important Man Utd favourite made‘early return’to Red Devils from international duty

A key first-team Manchester United player under Ruben Amorim has returned to the Carrington training complex ahead of the September international break coming to a close.

Ruben Amorim has seen several Manchester United players called up by their respective countries amid the World Cup qualifiers in the September period.

The 40-year-old United manager is now expected to see different United first-team talent return to Old Trafford ahead of the Premier League campaign resuming.

United will now face Manchester City in the first Manchester derby of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, with the Red Devils travelling to the Etihad on Sunday.

The Red Devils’ encounter on the weekend with Manchester City will then be followed up by United hosting Chelsea at Old Trafford on 20th September.

The 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been Amorim’s preferred choice to partner alongside Bruno Fernandes in the midfield pivot of his tactical system this season.

According to The Daily Mail on Tuesday, Casemiro has already returned to the Carrington training complex after representing Brazil on international duty.

The former Real Madrid star picked up a booking in Brazil’s 3-0 World Cup qualifying win against Chile last Friday and Casemiro was subsequently suspended for his side.

Casemiro was unable to feature for Brazil in their second World Cup qualifier during the September break, which ended in a 1-0 defeat to Bolivia on Wednesday.

A major factor for Brazil star Casemiro to return to Man Utd ahead of the Manchester derby match vs Man City at the Etihad

Casemiro has become a key influence in the Brazil squad again after the United star was brought back into the fold under former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of Casemiro and the 66-year-old Italian left Madrid at the end of the 2024-25 La Liga season to become Brazil’s manager in the summer.

The Daily Mail reports that Casemiro had received ‘permission to leave camp’ and the Brazil star returned to England instead of spending ‘more time’ in South America.

Brazil have already secured their spot at the 2026 World Cup in North America after Ancelotti’s men defeated Paraguay 1-0 in their World Cup qualifier in June.

The five-time World Cup champions are fifth in the qualifying table for South American sides, with Brazil level on points with Uruguay, Colombia and Paraguay.
