Lewandowski replacement: Wonderkid with stunning record at youth level 'wanted by Barca'

Barcelona have reportedly identified two young strikers as potential replacements for Robert Lewandowski, with the Poland international seemingly in his final season at Camp Nou.

Lewandowski has been an incredible servant for Barcelona since arriving from Bayern Munich in July 2022, scoring 101 goals and registering 20 assists in 149 appearances for the Catalan giants.

The 37-year-old is still going strong for Hansi Flick's side, but his contract is due to expire next summer, and he is believed to be keen to end his career in Saudi Arabia.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona have identified two potential replacements, with Red Bull Salzburg's Karim Konate and Monaco's Paris Brunner said to be on the Catalan outfit's radar.

Konate, 21, has scored 33 goals and registered 11 assists in 64 matches for Salzburg, but he has been on the sidelines since last November with a serious knee injury.

Barca 'view Konate, Brunner' as Lewandowski replacements

A number of other major European clubs are also thought to be interested in the Ivory Coast international, who has played in the Champions League for Salzburg, scoring twice in 10 appearances.

Brunner, meanwhile, finished his youth career at Borussia Dortmund before arriving at Monaco, but he has only made one appearance for the Ligue 1 outfit.

The 19-year-old played 10 minutes of Monaco's opening game of the 2025-26 Ligue 1 campaign against Le Havre, having returned to the club following a loan spell at Cercle Brugge, where he scored six times in 28 appearances.

Brunner managed 25 goals in 26 appearances for Dortmund's Under-17s outfit, while he struck 26 goals and contributed 10 assists in 42 matches for Dortmund Under-19s during his time in German football.

Could Lewandowski yet stay another season at Barcelona?

It would be a huge ask for either Konate or Brunner to come in and immediately lead the Barcelona line, with the duo instead viewed as long-term options for the Catalan outfit.

Lewandowski's contract is due to expire next June, but the La Liga champions do have the option to extend his deal for a further 12 months to take him to the summer of 2027.

As a result, it is not impossible for the experienced striker to extend his stay at Barcelona, but much will depend on how the current campaign progresses.

Lewandowski has only played 26 minutes of La Liga football this season, with Barcelona being careful with his fitness due to a hamstring issue which sidelined him in August.
