Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is sweating on the fitness of Omar Marmoush ahead of the local derby with Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The City winger, who has yet to score in three Premier League games this season, is rated doubtful after sustaining a knee injury during Egypt’s 0-0 draw with Burkina Faso on Tuesday.
Marmoush was on target for the Pharaohs in the 2-0 win over Ethiopia on September, but he lasted just nine minutes against the Stallions before being forced off.
The Egyptian Football Association revealed on social media that the 26-year-old had suffered a “bruised knee ligament” and “will undergo an X-ray” on Wednesday upon his arrival in Cairo.
Marmoush started the last two matches for the Citizens as they lost to Tottenham (2-0) and Brighton (2-1), having appeared off the bench in the 4-0 win against Wolves on the opening weekend of the new campaign.
