Manchester United are set to offload a player ahead of games with Chelsea and Brentford.

Ruben Amorim had a tough go of it last season and he comes into this season likely needing to impress in the short-term to avoid pressure building on his job. But things have not gone too well so far, with United winning just one of their first four games of the season.

Amorim’s men narrowly beat Burnley 3-2 with a late goal last time out, and that followed defeats to Grimsby Town in the cup and Arsenal in the Premier League, while they also draw with Fulham.

United need to pick up form quickly to avoid setting the tone of being one of the disappointments again this season, but the fixture list over the next few weeks is not too kind. Amorim’s men face Manchester City this weekend - albeit City have not been great so far - and they then face Chelsea at home and Brentford away.

Ahead of that run of games, it looks as though United will offload at least one player, with the Turkish window still open. There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Andre Onana after the arrival of a new keeper, and it now looks as though another departure has been agreed.

Full-back Tyrell Malacia is said to be on his way out, with Turkish journalist Resat Can Ozbudak reporting that Eyupspor have reached an agreement to sign Malacia on loan for the season. The 26-year-old initially impressed after joining the club under Erik ten Hag in 2022, but he had a torrid time with a knee injury that kept him out for over 18 months.

Since his return, Malacia has not been looked upon favourably by Amorim, and he was sent on loan to PSV last season, winning the Dutch title. During that spell, Malacia posted: “Finally playing good football again." That was taken as a dig towards Amorim by some, but it could have been a reference to his own form.

Malacia was part of United’s ‘bomb squad’ that trained separately over the summer, with Antony, Jadon Sancho and others finding themselves in that group having been marked for exit. But he will now find regular football in Türkiye, taking advantage of that nation’s window remaining open for now.
