Having lost 2-1 to Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium last season, revenge could be on Manchester City’s agenda ahead of Sunday’s much-awaited encounter between the two fierce rivals.
For Pep Guardiola himself, the prospect of beating Ruben Amorim should motivate him as he lost twice and drew one one out of his last three meeting with the Portuguese tactician.
Amorim praised Guardiola by naming him as “the best coach in the world” and he will be aware that writing the Catalan off despite City’s poor start to the season would be a grave error.
Rayan Cherki vowed to “kill” Manchester United after signing for City and while he is currently injured, his City teammates must have the same attitude in the build-up to the Manchester Derby.
Omar Marmoush was spotted on crutches ahead of Man City vs Manchester United
However, it will be easier said than done for Manchester City to beat United in Cherki’s absence and Omar Marmoush suffering a fresh injury scare.

Furthermore, Thomas Tuchel confirmed John Stones’ “minor muscle issues” after he withdrew from England duty while Abdukodir Khusanov could be sidelined for two weeks with a calf injury.
As far as Marmoush’s fitness is concerned ahead of Manchester City’s showdown against Manchester United, journalist Ismael Mahmoud posted a picture of him on crutches.
Marmoush’s injury is not considered serious and only time will tell whether he will be deemed fit to face United.
Omar Marmoush’s record against Manchester United
Marmoush, who Manchester City signed for£59 million looks like he has been worth the fee as the former Eintracht Frankfurt goalscorer has impacted proceedings in a City shirt from the get-go.
Since signing for Manchester City, Marmoush has only played against Manchester United once in a 0-0 draw.
The Cairo-born forward would have been hoping to score and win his first Manchester Derby and City fans will be hoping he gets the chance to do so on Sunday.
