According to an update via Fichajes, Bayer Leverkusen are considering a move for free agent Christian Eriksen, following the arrival of Kasper Hjulmand on their bench. He shares a strong bond with the Danish international, which could lead to a transfer.
Eriksen revived his career with a sensational spell at Brentford, but his move to Manchester United didn’t really go according to plan. He joined the Red Devils back in 2022. While he was an integral part of their first team in the initial years, injuries and competition for places never really allowed him to cement his spot in the squad.
His role in the team was further reduced following the arrival of Ruben Amorim towards the end of 2024. Since he wasn’t an integral part of their plans moving ahead, the Manchester-based giants decided against handing him a new deal.
Eriksen left the club at the start of the summer following the expiry of his contract. The 33-year-old free agent has been on the lookout for a new club, but has yet to find one. While he has been linked with quite a few top clubs, things haven’t gone according to plan for him.

Following the arrival of Kasper Hjulmand, they are looking to add more quality to their midfield, and they consider Eriksen the best option from the free-agent market.
Hjulmand is a massive admirer of the 33-year-old, having worked alongside him in the Danish national team. The two have a strong bond, and the new Leverkusen manager could actually push to bring him to the club.
While Eriksen prefers playing as a number ten, he has the quality and the experience to play in a variety of roles across the pitch. He could actually have a huge impact on a relatively young squad.
