Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox reached‘decision’over fate of Man Utd star who was caught by‘surprise’on one reaction

Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox both saw eye to eye over the necessary next step required around a Manchester United star at Old Trafford, according to reports.

The 40-year-old Manchester United manager has had a busy summer window at the Premier League club when it comes to incoming transfers and outgoing players.

Ineos opened the Red Devils’ war chest in the market and released funds for Manchester United to bring in new – and much-needed – talent to Old Trafford.

United splashed out big on key summer signings, including landing Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

However, the Red Devils were also able to offload several players who were surplus to requirements for Ruben Amorim, including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

The 29-year-old Cameroonian’s role as United No 1 is all but over after he fell out of favour with Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim amid the 2025-26 campaign.

Andre Onana missed United’s pre-season summer tour due to injury and Amorim has even preferred to play the error-prone Altay Bayindir ahead of him this season.

According to The Daily Mail, United manager Amorim was left ‘unhappy’ with the former Inter Milan star after he suffered a hamstring injury early in pre-season.

The newspaper claims that the former Sporting CP head coach is also wary of Onana ‘becoming a distraction’ for United’s last summer signing of Senne Lammens.

Amorim does not want the narrative to be around the Trabzonspor-bound Onana if he is left out of the starting XI and wants Senne Lammens to find his footing.

It has been reported that the Red Devils head coach met with United director of football Jason Wilcox and the pair ‘reached the decision’ to offload Onana.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s telling reaction to Jason Wilcox and Ruben Amorim’s stance over Trabzonspor target Andre Onana

Andre Onana’s United future was plunged into doubt after the Red Devils made their late swoop for Senne Lammens, who arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day.

United agreed to sign Belgian shot-stopper Lammens from Royal Antwerp for an initial fee of £18.1m, with the package also including add-ons for the 23-year-old.

The Daily Mail claims that Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe had ‘supported the decision’ that was made around Onana’s club future under Jason Wilcox and Amorim.

It has been added that Trabzonspor target Onana was caught by ‘surprise’ after Ratcliffe showed his true feelings in wanting to offload the Cameroon international.
