Northern Ireland left-back Jamal Lewis
Northern Ireland left-back Jamal Lewis
Northern Ireland international Jamal Lewis could be set for a shock move to Saudi Arabia.
The left-back, who remains a free agent following his release from Newcastle United in June, is on the radar of Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah.
The Khobar based club are keen to challenge current champions Al-Ittihad and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr for this year’s league title.
If the move goes through, Lewis will line up alongside former Real Madrid hero Nacho, Belgium goalkeeper Koen Casteels and Uruguayan international Gaston Alavarez.
Other well-known stars in the Pro League include Karim Benzema, Marcelo Brozovic, Jao Cancelo, Yannick Carrasco, Kingsley Coman, Joao Felix, N’Golo Kante, Alexandre Lacazette, Chris Smalling and Ivan Toney.
Lewis has won 39 caps for Northern Ireland since making his debut against South Korea in 2018, however has not featured in a Michael O’Neill squad for over a year.
The 27-year-old full-back enjoyed four seasons at Norwich City making 100 appearances for the Canaries before joining Newcastle United in the summer of 2020. The left-back made just 31 Premier League appearances for the Magpies, and was farmed out on loan to Championship club Watford and Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo.
