The beginning of Week 1 did not go well for the Kansas City Chiefs. On top of losing to the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil, they also lost star wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Worthy got tangled up with a Chargers defender and was essentially trucked by Travis Kelce, resulting in him falling directly on his shoulder. Worthy has since been given a "day-to-day" injury designation, but the belief is he may miss one more game.
Naturally, Kelce took it upon himself as the main reason for causing the injury. He spoke about it on his "New Heights" podcast, stating that he should have never run into Worthy.
"I'm supposed to be running my route at depth for Worthy. So, it's frustrating for me. I was trying to kind of set up my guy to be able to get into position, and it all just happened pretty quick. I just gotta be better, man. I'm 13 years in the league. There is no excuse for me running into my own guys like that...," Kelce stated.
Apparently, Kelce was meant to be running a deeper route, but chose instead to attempt to set Worthy up for the route. The confusion or decision led to Worthy running into the big-bodied tight end, resulting in the injury.

Worthy was officially diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder, though the severity of the dislocation does not appear to be season-ending. It also does not appear to have to sideline him for multiple weeks either.
Football plays happen incredibly fast, which Kelce alludes to. Despite the random happening causing the injury, it is not truly on Kelce that Worthy was injured in the manner he was.
The good news is Worthy is not seriously hurt, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid even stated that he may return to action soon by wearing a brace. The worst-case scenario would be to undergo surgery, but that has not been proposed or confirmed.
For now, Worthy will just need some time to heal before he can get back out on the field to help the Chiefs' offense.
