However, despite that, Mikel Arteta will already have an idea of certain players he wants to go after in January in order to further bolster his squad, and try to beat Liverpool and Man City to the league title.

They are very strong in midfield, but it seems that Bundesliga star Angelo Stiller may be took good to pass on. According to newspaper the Express, Arsenal are currently “leading the race” to sign Stiller, who is also on the radar of Manchester United and Liverpool.

United have been linked with the German international for a long period of time, but both Liverpool and Arsenal are fairly new suitors for the 24-year-old. So far this season, Stiller has made four appearances in all competitions for Stuttgart, providing one assist.

United saw a bid rejected for him in the summer window, but it is not understood as to how much they offered. The Express say that Stuttgart are demanding a fee of £52m for the midfielder.

How could Arsenal afford a deal for Stiller?

The rumours of Arsenal leading the race for Stiller comes at a good time based on other reports in the media of Arsenal’s transfer business for the January window.

It has been said that the Gunners are looking to sell both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus, who combine for a market value of around £47m. If they were to sell the pair, then the Gunners could virtually have made up the funds to get a deal for Stiller done.

He would help to add more depth in midfield, and also would help to get one over on both United and Liverpool who view him as a viable transfer target in January.
