REPORT: Arsenal Plotting £47m Cash Boost By Selling Two 'Unwanted' Players In January Window

Arsenal are reportedly plotting the sale of two players in January to help gain a cash boost of around £47 million.

The Gunners are coming out of the international break in a good position. They have won two of their opening three games, and now face a Nottingham Forest side managed by Ange Postecoglou, who they have never lost to.

Mikel Arteta will hope that his summer signings can make a difference for him this season, after the Gunners spend over £250m on new players over the transfer window, which is the most in the Premier League.

They also didn’t make many sales, which mean the heavy investment has gone, for the most part, unrepaired in financial terms, so the Arsenal leadership will want to see some return in the January transfer window.

Arsenal plotting to sell Jesus and Trossard

Two players that have seen their roles reduce significantly are Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard. Jesus is currently recovering from a long-term ACL injury, and is likely to make a return before the end of 2025.

However, he wasn’t included in Arteta’s Champions League-listed squad, indicating that even what he returns, he won’t be in the manager’s plans.

Meanwhile, Trossard now sits behind Eberechi Eze, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke in the pecking order on the wings, meaning that his role is likely to be somewhat of a reserve role unless the Gunners experience several injuries.

This means that both players could be surplus to requirements, and reports are indicating that is true. According to Football Insider, Arsenal are considering the sale of both ‘unwanted’ players in January to help boost their revenue and wage budgets.

Trossard is estimated to be worth around £19m according to market value, and Jesus is worth around £28m, which means, if Arsenal can get market-value-deals on both players, they could see a significant £47m cash boost from their sales, which could be used to recoup some of the summer spending, or even more player additions in January.
