Man City could now be without another 'invaluable' player for up to six weeks due to injury

Manchester City’s injury situation is not particularly good ahead of the derby with Manchester United this weekend.

Manchester City have several long-term absentees in Mateo Kovacic, Rayan Cherki and Kalvin Phillips.

John Stones, Phil Foden, Savinho, Josko Gvardiol, Abdukodir Khusanov and Marcus Bettinelli are also injury doubts ahead of the weekend clash against Manchester United.

Now, another player has been ruled out for the derby and, according to Physio Scout, he could be out from between one week to six weeks.

Omar Marmoush could be out from one to six weeks

The player in question is Omar Marmoush, who suffered an injury in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier between Egypt and Burkina Faso.

Marmoush – who Gary Likener once called “invaluable” – went to ground after being tackled four minutes in, and he came off five minutes later.

Although initial reports played down the severity of Marmoush’s injury, Man City’s media team have confirmed that he will miss the derby.

However, they did not specify just how long he would be out for.

On Wednesday morning, football injury analyst Physio Scout explained how long City fans could expect Marmoush to be on the sidelines.

‘The tackler’s contact with the outside of Marmoush’s leg raises concern for a potential MCL injury,’ they wrote on X.

‘Marmoush was later seen palpating the inside of his knee, which further supports this suspicion.

‘He would be quite lucky to get away with just a bone bruise/contusion injury. But let’s wait and see.

‘Potential recovery times: Bone bruise: <1 week. Grade 1: 1-3 weeks. Grade 2: 3-6 weeks.’

Omar Marmoush had to come off early in Egypt's clash vs. Burkina Faso on international duty with "a bruised knee ligament" as per Egyptian team doctor, Mohamed Abu El-Ela.

Who could replace Omar Marmoush against Manchester United

Jeremy Doku replaced Marmoush in City’s last two games, making him the most likely option to start against Man United.

However, Savinho and Phil Foden could also be in the picture, with Oscar Bobb capable of moving over in order to accommodate either player.
