Marcus Rashford enhanced his prospects of featuring for England at next summer's World Cup finals after netting in the Three Lions' emphatic 5-0 triumph over Serbia on Tuesday evening. England delivered their most impressive performance under Thomas Tuchel in Eastern Europe as they moved significantly closer to securing their World Cup berth.
The victory marked their most comprehensive away success since thrashing San Marino 10-0 in November 2021. Harry Kane, Noni Madueke, Ezri Konsa and Marc Guehi had already put England in command before Rashford sealed the rout with a 90th-minute strike.
The goal represented the 27-year-old's first international strike since October 2023, completing a big U-turn under Tuchel.
The forward, who is presently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United, has previously expressed his ambition to feature in England's World Cup squad at the campaign's conclusion.
His inclusion in the recent squad had sparked surprise, but the United loanee could argue he has demonstrated sufficient quality to merit another opportunity during the October international window.
