Eagles' Jalen Carter Gets Clear Warning From Coach Before Chiefs Game

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to have Jalen Carter for this week's clash with the Kansas City Chiefs, in a rematch of last season's Super Bowl LIX.

Some concerns mounted that Carter might receive a suspension after his spitting incident in the team's season-opening game against the Dallas Cowboys. Carter was ejected from the matchup after spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

On Tuesday, the NFL fined Carter $57,222, and his ejection early in the first quarter of the Week 1 game counted as serving a one-game suspension, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni previously said any team disciplinary decisions would be handled privately, so it's unclear if their defensive tackle received any additional punishments from his team for the incident.

Meanwhile, another Eagles coach recently sent out a strong message about Carter's impact on the team, which should include him playing to help them win, without letting his emotions interfere and cause issues.

On Tuesday, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio spoke with reporters about Carter's situation.

"You've got to be focused on the job at hand, and all extracurricular stuff needs to not have any importance to you," he said.

According to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Fangio also addressed how Carter previously spoke about being a leader with the Eagles.

"Well, to be considered a leader, actions speak louder than words, and he's got to lead through his actions," Fangio said.

Philadelphia managed to win its Week 1 game without Carter, but Week 2 will offer another potential challenge, with an away game versus the team it routed in Super Bowl LIX.

Carter, 24, apologized after his spitting incident, and luckily, he won't be sidelined for what looks to be a challenging matchup at Kansas City on Sunday afternoon.

As of this writing, the Eagles are heading into the matchup as slight favorites of 1.5 points, with the Chiefs coming off a disappointing season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
