Draymond Green Names His ‘Favorite Player to Watch.’ It’s Not Steph Curry

Draymond Green has been in the NBA since 2012. He’s played his entire career with Stephen Curry, helping the Golden State Warriors reach the NBA Finals six times and winning four championships together.

They’re the last two men standing from the dynasty days, and they’ve been through a whole lot more than the average teammates. However, that doesn’t mean Curry is Green’s favorite player to watch.

Draymond Green Says SGA is His Favorite Player to Watch

In a streaming session with YouTuber Kai Cenat, the former Defensive Player of the Year tipped his hat to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. While some people believe he’s constantly baiting for fouls, Green believes there’s much more to it than what meets the eye:

“My favorite is Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander]. Because Shai, he’s just going to get you a bucket. People be complaining like, ‘Yo, he’s drawing fouls.’ But that’s a skill!” Green said. “There is an art to that. If you’re a dumb defender and you foul, that’s your fault. That’s no knock to him that he knows how to get fouled.”

Gilgeous-Alexander led the league in scoring this season, posting a career-best 32.7 points per game. He was second in the league in free-throw attempts (669) behind only Giannis Antetokounmpo (707), but he also deserves plenty of credit for knocking down 89% of his shots from the foul line.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is The Best Player in the NBA Right Now

NBA players and fans need to give credit where it’s due, and Gilgeous-Alexander is coming off one of the single greatest seasons in league history. He ran away with MVP honors, was an All-Star, first-team All-NBA selection, won the scoring title, and led the Oklahoma City Thunder to an NBA championship while also earning NBA Finals MVP honors.

In an era when most superstars only focus on scoring, Gilgeous-Alexander plays hard on both ends of the floor. He sticks to his opposition like a fly against the wall in the perimeter, and then gives everybody buckets.

Of course, perhaps one would expect Green to give Curry the nod, given all they’ve been through together and considering that he’s considered to be the greatest shooter of all time. But maybe he just grew used to his greatness, and even if that’s not the case, SGA is a pretty decent pick as well.
