What Tom Brady told Geno Smith after QB’s performance vs. Patriots

Geno Smith’s first game with the Las Vegas Raiders earned him some praise from Tom Brady.

The Raiders quarterback received a text message from the minority owner after he went 24-of-34 for 362 yards with a touchdown and an interception in Las Vegas’ Week 1 win over Brady’s former New England Patriots team.

“Good game, get ready for the next one,” Brady texted Smith, via Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Brady, who has a 5% minority stake in the Raiders, wasn’t present at Gillette Stadium due to his FOX obligations. But he’s still making his presence known — especially to the quarterback.

Smith’s 362 yards were the most in Raiders history during a quarterback’s debut since Dan Pastorini’s 317 yards in 1980.

Even though Smith set a new record and provided the Raiders with optimism after a Week 1 win, the 34-year-old knows there’s still plenty of football to be played and a long way to go if the Raiders want to return to the playoffs.

Brady’s message was a reminder of that as Smith and the rest of the raiders prepare for Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
