Arsenal star Jurrien Timber may have inadvertently sent Feyenoord into a panic this week, with comments regarding his brother Quinten Timber.
That’s [according to Soccer News](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/jurrien-timber-verklapt-absolute-feyenoord-ramp/), relaying information from Feyenoord journalist Mikos Gouka in Algemeen Dagblad, who covers the situation today.
He explains that the Arsenal defender may have sent everyone at Feyenoord into a panic with his latest comments about his brother, who is in the final year of his deal at Feyenoord.
He had been hoping to move on this summer and secure the Dutch club a transfer fee but that didn’t happen, leaving the two parties in an uncomfortable position.
Feyenoord hope that they can convince the midfielder to sign a new contract at the club to avoid him signing a pre-contract agreement with someone else in the January transfer window or leaving on a free transfer next summer.
One potential solution for all parties is a new deal that includes a release clause, allowing a club to come in and sign him for an agreeable fee.
A new contract hasn’t been signed as yet, though, and Gouka reports that the Arsenal defender may have caused some panic with his comments on international duty with the Netherlands this week.
“That interview with Jurriën Timber at the edge of the training field in Zeist produced one quote that surely made general manager Dennis te Kloese sigh,” he said.
“The Feyenoord player’s twin brother said, “Another year at Feyenoord is also nice,” about his brother’s situation. “If you take that quote literally, Timber will finish the season in Rotterdam and then walk out the door for free ‘after that year.’
“A scenario they abhor in Rotterdam, but which is being seriously considered. Everything to still secure a multi-million-euro fee of around 12 to 15 million euros should be the focus these months.”
