"He's not here today," he said. "Not going to get the specifics, but expecting here tomorrow."
If he practices on Thursday, it will be Judkins' first practice since the June minicamp. The Browns were given a two-week roster exemption on him.
When asked if he could play on two days of practice.
"It's really hard to say," he said. "Need to see him tomorrow and the next day and see where it is. So I have as coaches, we are just going to take it day by day."
Stefanski said Judkins looks to be in good' condition. The Browns did receive a two-week roster exemption on Judkins, so he does not count on the 53-man roster now.
"Obviously, we've been able to work with him physically, over the last few days," he said. "He looks good.
"He appears to be in very good shape," he said. "But, I think it's important that we keep take this day by day."
Stefanski was asked if the coaching staff was able to be in contact with him during training camp.
"Not in contact with him," he said. "Obviously, he was here in the spring, so has a baseline and understanding those type of things. And then we will work hard and have been working hard since he's been back and getting him ready."
Regardless, if Judkins is able to play, the Browns have to run the ball better after averaging just 2.0 yards a carry in the first game against the Bengals. The Browns ranked 30th in the NFL in rushing after one game.
