Alan Shearer makes tongue-in-cheek prediction for how many goals Nick Woltemade will score this …

**Alan Shearer felt the same feelings that most Newcastle United fans went through during this summer transfer window.**

As Newcastle struggled to find a new striker to lead the line as the Alexander Isak saga dragged on and on, Shearer, like most fans, started to lose hope.

Thankfully, the Magpies got their act together right at the end of the window and brought in Yoane Wissa from Brentford on deadline day and managed to capture Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart on the Friday before the window closed.

Wissa is proven in the Premier League and, despite having no match sharpness, still managed to score twice for his country during the international break.

Alan Shearer backed Nick Woltemade to get 25 goals in his season

Things weren't so great for Woltemade and his Germany teammates, who suffered only their fourth ever World Cup Qualifying defeat to Slovakia at the weekend, before beating Northern Ireland.

Speaking about Germany's troubles, Micah Richards pointed out on The Rest Is Football podcast that Germany's squad aren't all playing at the top German clubs anymore, which he feels could be affecting their cohesion, which prompted Alan Shearer to pipe up:

> “They’ve \[Germany\] got a great centre-forward who is about to score 25 goals in the Premier League for Newcastle."

We'd love Shearer's prediction to be right but we're being realistic

You could see Shearer was trying to hold back a smile when he said it, but it was Richards' response that broke the former Newcastle striker:

> “Well you didn’t say that in the group. I had to tell you who he was!”

Richards and Shearer burst out laughing while Gary Lineker pointed out that Shearer seemed more like his usual self after wallowing in post-Alexander Isak depression for the last two weeks.

If Woltemade gets around 15 goals in his first season, we'll count that as a good start. We expect Yoane Wissa will be the main source of goals for Eddie Howe during this campaign.
