Eddie Howe will assess the returning internationals this week as he weighs up his options for Saturday's Premier League match

The Newcastle Untied teamsheet will make for fascinating reading when it drops at 1.45pm on Saturday afternoon. After being starved of a first-team centre forward for the first month of the season, Eddie Howe now has not one but two big-money options to turn to when Wolves come to St James' Park as the Premier League resumes.

Who starts up front is the big talking point, with United toothless in the goalless draw at Leeds Untied before the international break. Certainly we should see at least one debut in front of a sell-out home crowd with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa ready for action.

However, there are some injury concerns for Howe and Wolves boss Vitor Pereira to assess this week as they prepare for Saturday's showdown.

Both sides could be missing some key players, with some definitely ruled out, while others will have to prove their fitness in the final two days of training before the action resumes.

Newcastle know at least one regular starter will be absent, as Anhony Gordon serves the second of his three-match ban for the red card he picked up against Liverpool way back on August 25.

The England star will miss more than a month of Premier League action, with a potential return in the league against Arsenal on September 28.

Howe has two concerns in midfield, although is hopeful both Joelinton and Jacob Ramsey will be available for selection. Brazilian star Joelinton missed the goalless draw at Leeds with a slight groin issue, but Howe expected him to be back after the break.

"Joelinton's scan was good," he said last month before Leeds. "He will miss this weekend. We'll hopefully get him back for the game after the international break.'

Ramsey started in place of the No 7 at Elland Road, but came off at half-time as a precaution after taking a blow to the ankle. He is another Howe expects to have recovered thanks to the fortnight's break.

Two returning international stars will be assessed, with new striker Yoane Wissa coming off early in DR Congo's defeat to Senegal on Tuesday. Some reports suggested he picked up an injury, but there has been no indication of any concern over the £55m man.

It would be a big surprise if Bruno Guimaraes was missing, but after playing 90 minutes in both of Brazil's games this last week, including a grueling test at altitude against Bolivia, United's captain then had a long-haul flight back to the UK.

It's nothing new for Guimaraes, of course, and while he is expected to be ready to face Wolves on Saturday, Newcastle will have one eye on the game against Barcelona next Thursday.

Wolves also have some injury concerns, not least former Newcastle transfer target Jorgen Strand Larsen. He missed their 3-2 defeat to Everton before the break with a calf problem, and withdrew from the Norway squad for the international fixtures.

He is expected to have shaken off the problem to line up against United, but young striker Leon Chiwome is ruled out as he recovers from an ACL injury,

The visitors will also assess Ki-Jana Hoever and Hugo Bueno, who are both doubts but potentially in with a shout. Dutch defender Hoever is close to recovering from a knee injury, while Spanish full-back Bueno is set to contnue on the left-hand side.
